How is dog the bounty hunter legal

But there are rules and regulations to the job. The bail bond contract gives bounty hunters the right to enter the home of a fugitive, but only after establishing without a doubt that the person lives there. They cannot enter the homes of friends or family members to look for the fugitive. Some states require that bounty hunters be licensed; other states require that bounty hunters register with them. Only a handful of states -- Kentucky, Illinois and Oregon -- prohibit bounty hunters entirely from making bail arrests.

In these states, bounty hunters need to have a court order. Then, the judge will usually order the local police to arrest the fugitive, and the bounty hunter can request that the prisoner be remanded into his or her custody. The one thing a bounty hunter can never do is take the hunt outside of the United States. Bounty hunters can be arrested -- even shot -- if they stray across international borders. See the sidebar in the next section for more on this. With the overwhelming popularity of reality television, it's no surprise that the networks have turned their attention to the subject of bounty hunting.

Not one but two networks have shows about bounty hunters. Out-of-state agents can only come to Florida to hunt for fugitives who jumped bail in another state. Even then, the agent still has to work for the agency that wrote the initial bond. Dog the Bounty Hunter is looking at a class three felony for conducting an unlicensed manhunt if he continues.

Additionally, Dog is a convicted felon. He caught a first-degree murder charge back in the seventies. The man who pulled the trigger and Dog were both convicted. Someone should probably put Dog on a leash before he ends up in the pound. However, it turns out that if Dog did manage to find and detain Brian, it could be Dog himself that ends up getting into trouble with the law. According to the Daily Mail , Dog has absolutely no legal status as a bounty hunter or private investigator.

This means that he basically has just as much power to arrest or hunt for Brian Laundry as you or I. So, why the hell is Dog hunting Brian in the first place? I mean, he is just playing a game of hide and seek at this point. He started his bond service 12 years after his conviction. He is a convicted felon and can't be a bondsmen in any state.
